Counselling
I have been a member of the
British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
(BACP) since 2004. This means that I have completed a recoginsed counselling training programme over the course of a number of years, and also that I work within the BACP’s
Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.
These BACP pages
are a good place to start if you’re interested to find out more about what counselling is, what it can help with, what happens in counselling etc.
I am happy to show clients, on request, a copy of my
Disclosure and Barring Certificate
(DBS) and proof of qualifications. You can check my BACP membership status (or that of any other BACP member) at this publicly accessible register.
The
BACP Directory
and
Counselling Directory
are good places to search for practitioners who are local to you, or who offer an approach or a style that feels right. Please be aware that there are surprisingly few rules about who is, and who isn’t, allowed to market themselves as a ‘counsellor’ or ‘therapist’.
Most professionals would advise prospective clients to choose someone who is a member of the BACP or of another reputable professional organisation - and searching through one or both of these directories guarantees this. Additionally, typing a practitioner's name into the search bar at the BACP Register
page will enable you to check that a practitioner is
a member of the BACP.
There's information on this website about what I can offer as a counsellor to
adults
in general, to
younger adults (aged 18 to 25)
in particular, and for people who have
parenting or family concerns.
I am also qualified to deliver ‘Tuning Into Teens’, a series of sessions designed to help parents ‘tune in to’ their teenagers, which can improve family life and guide behaviour.
Further information about my professional background
is available. If you would like to find out more about my availability or what I can offer as a counsellor, please call or email.
